A Beary Nice Visit

April 12, 2010

Everyone has owned a beloved stuffed animal in their life. Those stuffed animals are even more special if you “build” them yourself. That’s what kids (and grown ups!) do at Build-A-Bear Workshops across the country and around the world. Allan and I were lucky to tour the World Bearquarters of Build-A-Bear Workshop in St. Louis. What a fun visit! Jill Saunders, Director of Bear and Public Relations gave us the VIP tour. Everywhere we looked we saw stuffed bears, dogs, and even an owl with a swiveling head. The wardrobe rooms were stock full of tiny outfits that included swimsuits, tutus, sports uniforms and more mini-shoes than a major shoe store. I loved the “Bearisms” printed around the borders of each room. These messages remind everyone of beary important things like “It’s never too late to have a happy childhood” or “Ask not what your bear can do for you, ask what you can do for your bear.” Jill totally surprised us by giving Allan and I two Build-A-Bear stuffed animals. Allan loves his dragon complete with a suit of armor…which goes with my cute princess bear. Both have a place of honor in the RV on a ledge where we can see them all time.
