Able to Give Good News

Last week was consumed with helping victims of the Nashville flood help get their lives back on track. While giving away new shoes at the fairgrounds, someone turned in a purse they found by a shoe table. We waited for the owner to come back, but she never did. While it felt funny, I went through her purse, looking for a contact number. I left a voice mail saying we had her purse. A few hours later I got a call from the owner crying with gratitude. She had escaped from the floods with only the clothes she was wearing and her purse. She was overwhelmed at the thought that she had lost her drivers license, Medicaid card, Health Insurance card, etc. At least we were able to give her the good news that her purse was safe…which included some extra money that I stuck in a side pocket.
