Dallas Men Receive New Shoes

This morning Allan and I wondered why our legs were sore. Then we realized it was because last night we had “exercised” by getting up and down hundreds of times fitting the men at the Union Gospel Mission in Dallas. Not that we minded, because we were glad so many men could receive new shoes. Some of the men were part of a rehabilitation/training program at the mission and others were homeless men bused in every evening so they’d have a warm place to stay at night. It was raining last night, and many men arrived wearing shoes with holes and loose soles, which also means they had wet and cold feet. Thanks to the generous donations from shoe manufacturers, Soles4Souls was able to donate new shoes to these men. After finding the correct sizes, men would say “This is an answer to prayer. I needed boots for my job.” “These shoes make me feel I’m dreaming because they are so comfortable”. One man expressed his thanks for new shoes by kissing my hand and saying “You don’t know how much these shoes mean to me.” We’re excited to be a part of this effort to give people in need a new pair of shoes.
