Let’s Get Crafty!

I’ve always been a firm believer in arts and crafts. Not just to make some cutsey-wootsey wall hanging, but to give kids (and adults!) the chance to be creative. Crafts also teach decision making skills. What can you do when you want pink paint but you only have red and white paint? How can you attach chenille stems to the head of a mask? I remember working with a group of foster kids who thought crafts were stupid. After getting involved in a few craft projects, their eyes sparkled as they proudly showed off their creations. After all, there’s no right or wrong way to do a craft project. If you want a three eyed puppet, go ahead. The world needs more three eyed puppets! That’s why I’m such a strong supporter of S&S Worldwide. This family run company offers an amazing assortment of craft kits, craft supplies, recreational equipment and learning aids. Their catalog or website will keep you busy for hours, seeing what fun activities you can do with your family, school or youth group. Allan and I visited the S&S headquarters in Colchester Connecticut. We use their “Balloon Buddies” craft kits for some of the Soles4souls events we do. Check out their website at www.ssww.com
