After a busy day giving away shoes to thousands of people, we drove through a neighborhood where 500 homes were devastated by the flood. The eerie thing was the houses looked like picture perfect homes with brickwork, neatly trimmed trees and flower boxes. Yet each and every front yard was filled with huge piles of debris. We saw everything you’d find in a home from refrigerators to mattresses to giant stuffed Scooby Do dogs. Most had soggy drywall and insulation piled next to the road. It just goes to show the flood didn’t discriminate as it devastated thousands of homes.

The flood that raged through Nashville last week left people without the basics of food, clothing and shelter. Soles4Souls did what we could to help by giving away shoes yesterday at the Tennessee fairgrounds. With plenty of help from volunteers, we gave away thousands of new shoes donated by shoe manufacturers. We started with 85,000 pairs! Today is another day of distribution and people are already lining up. Off I go!
