In an effort to get some exercise, Allan and I try and ride our bikes as often as possible. Today we found an amazing paved trail right by our campground. Go ahead and cheer for us, since we rode 16 miles. The first 8 miles were gloriously downhill. The last 8 miles were…misery!
Every day, St. Anthony’s Foundation serves over 1,000 people. By providing for basic needs like food, clothing and healthcare, St. Anthony’s programs are a gateway for people to reclaim a sense of dignity and take significant steps toward a more stable life. Through case management and rehabilitation they are able to reinforce and support those positive steps. Additionally, St. Anthony’s advocacy efforts address the causes of poverty, challenging social policies and encouraging constructive changes.
We were able to be a small part of the Foundation’s programs by distributing new shoes. St. Anthony’s sets up a store-type atmosphere where people can come and “shop” for what they need. Soles4Souls added our shoes as part of the selection process. People were pleasantly surprised to be able to select new shoes while being fitted by Allan and other staff.
